Research;

The research said that the less vinegar and baking soda you put in, the higher it will go.
what really happens when you combine vinegar & baking soda ?
It is a chemical reaction between the two that causes the bubbling. Baking soda is actually sodium bicarbonate, which has the chemical formula NaHCO3. Vinegar is acetic acid mixed with water and has the chemical formula CH3COOH. When the two chemicals are mixed together they produce the formula:

NaHCO3 + CH3COOH --> CH3COONa + H2CO3.


Acetic Acid: CH3COOH -> CH3COO- + H+
Sodium Bicarbonate: NaHCO3 -> Na+ + HCO3 -
H++ HCO3- -> H2CO3 Carbonic Acid
H2CO3 -> H2O + CO2

Problem;

How much vinegar & baking soda will make the canister fly higher ?

Hypothesis;

My hypothesis is that the more baking soda & vinegar added will cause a bigger chemical reaction making it go higher.

Materials;

film canister.
vinegar.
baking soda.
measuring cups.
measuring tape.

Procedure;

step 1; take vinegar.
step 2; pour 2. centimeters into canister. ( cm marked on outside of canister)
step 3; take baking soda put1ml in.
step 4; put cap on.
step 5; flip upside down.
step 6; stand back.
step 7; measure how high the canister went by video camera.
step 8; record data.

the more vinegar you put, it goes lower because the vinegar weighs down the canister.
the less,the hgiher because theres not much mass.
